When it comes to office products, RAPOO (from Shenzhen Rapoo Technology Co., LTd.) is a name that is quickly becoming known among office products. It’s also one of the leading suppliers of wireless peripherals in China.
The company has been around since 2002 and have made mice, keyboards, smart home devices and gaming peripherals and many are looking towards RAPOO products as the more inexpensive alternative to the big brand keyboard/mouse makers.
Today, I am reviewing the RAPOO VT950C Gaming Wired/Wireless Mouse which features 11 programmable buttons with the standard left/right buttons, middle scroll wheel button, but also two custom keys on the right, two DPI buttons under the scroll wheel and the forward/backward buttons on the left.
The good thing about this mouse is that the side buttons don’t get in the way of your thumb or fingers, so that’s a positive.
The VT950C offers DPI from 1,000-16,000 with 4 polling rates of 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz and 1000Hz and you can connect a USB cable to make it a wired mouse or connect the receiver adapter to the cable and utilize the mouse as a wireless mouse.
The mouse features 16 million LED options and a built-in 800 mA high-efficiency lithium battery. The wireless mouse is capable of 16 hours (with the lights off) or 11 hours (lights on) after 3 hours of charging.
I do like the overall comfort of this mouse but it’s important to note that there is the VT950C and the VT950 (which has weights underneath the mouse) and the VT950 costs a little more.
I am not having any latency issues via wireless or wired and as a work mouse, it works well, or those who need a mouse with a bit more ergo to it. But for those looking for a lightweight mouse, built for speed, this is not one of those gaming mice.
The only thing is that I had problems getting the software (which I downloaded from the website) to recognize the mouse. The software is VT950C is not listed but the VT950 is, but I was unable to get the software to recognize the mouse.
Fortunately, the mouse is plug and play, everything works outside of the box. But I was hoping to program the buttons, but without the software being able to detect the mouse, I’m limited to the standard functions.
But overall, I do like the look and feel and the fact that it’s wireless and wired. But until I get this software to discover the mouse, for now, I’m giving the RAPOO VT950C Gaming Wired/Wireless Mouse four stars.
