The One about the NEWMEN GM711 Wired Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

For my latest gaming hardware review, I am checking out the NEWMEN GM711 Wired Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.

NEWMEN is known for creating keyboards for an OK price. Their keyboards tend to be price +/- $50 and this keyboard features up to 9 RGB backlit modes, the keyboard features hot swappable switches (only with oetemu switches) and comes with four backup switches and swap tools.

But this keyboard features a media control knob, so you can increase or decrease volume, function keys (1-8) to also use volume, mute and activate your music player.

And the software (needs to be downloaded from the Newmentech website) which you can customize the LED’s for the keyboard.

For the most part, while I like the look of the keyboard, I like the fact they include extra switches and keycap puller and that you can customize the LED lighting. Also, how quiet the brown switch keyboard is. I am not getting the response rate that I like when I’m striking the keys.

In fact, there are times when I’m typing up this review and the space button fails to register. Fortunately, it comes with extra switches but sometimes things like these are hard to overlook, considering even cheaper gaming keyboards don’t have these many issues. But I will say that the more I type, the less problems and again, I can swap out the switch. But still it does get irritating to see these problems right outside of the box, so I’m going to deduct a star for that.

But overall, it’s a customizable keyboard. The price is a bit much because its priced to compete with other mid-range gaming keyboards and I think that Newmen keyboards are best priced to compete against other keyboards in the $30-range than the near or over $50 range.

But it’s a solid keyboard in terms of what it comes with, the customizable LED lighting, easy to read typeface on the keycaps but I do feel it’s priced a bit higher than it should be.

The NEWMEN GM711 Wired Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is a nice keyboard but when its priced to go against other keyboards in the $40-$50 range, it’s hard to recommend. But if it was priced much cheaper, then it would be a recommended gaming keyboard.
