In 2019, Australian-based surf company/clothing retailer Billabong collaborated with Otis Carey, an indigenous free surfer and artist. Otis’ designs would be featured in various Billabong clothing.
Otis said, “The way I can best explain it is, it’s a broken-down form of traditional symbols and stories that aren’t giving all of it away but just enough for people to understand. I think it’s super important to be able to have that outlet for other people to experience.”
The collaboration is titled “Child of the Bush” and is inspired by his childhood living at the beach, hunting for freshwater turtles up in the mountains and the days when he would play where the rivers flow to the ocean.
Billabong showcased a collection of shirts and shorts and a proportion of each item sold, Billabong would donate to the Kulai Preschool Aboriginal Corporation in Australia.
For this review, I take a look at the Sundays Fauna Lo Tide boardshort as part of the Billabong x Otis Carey “Child of the Bush” collaboration.
The shorts are more or less comparable to other Billabong Sunday’s Lo Tide Boardshorts featuring the art of Otis Carey with a fixed waist boardshort with draw cord fastening, a hook and loop fly, a back patch pocket and Billabong logo on the front, bottom left and the other on the back pocket.
This version’s color is “Blood” (boo) and I like Billabong Sundays LT boardshorts for the look and feel, and they do feature a recycler 4-way stretch, micro repel and performance fit.
Lo Tited Boardshorts tend to come with a side pocket, which is a plus.
Currently, the Billabong x Otis Carey shirts and shorts are on sale on Billabong. And these Billabong Sundays Fauna Lo Tide Boardshorts are recommended and with each item sold, a proportion goes to a good cause!
Check it out!
