When it comes to fishing, maintenance is very important. In fact, I am a believer that your fishing reels should get personal maintenance (or professional maintenance if you are hardcore with fishing in the ocean) and I believe it should receive maintenance once or twice a year (depending on how often you fish).
Today I am reviewing the KastKing ReelTune Reel Care Kit which comes with a fishing reel cleaner, reel oil and grease along with a microfiber cloth and a carbon baitcasting reel wrench.
The reel cleaner spray is for removing dirt, salt residue, old grease, oil buildup and other contaminants. You definitely want to clean off any old grease.
The high-performance reel oil for bearings, worm gears and other moving parts. I use this for the line roller, bail arm and handle.
The reel grease is for lubrication and wear protection for drive gears and other components. I use grease for the drag area of the spool and also for the main shaft area exposed where it meets the rotor.
Reel maintenance is very important for an angler and one can’t assume that their reel will perform for another decade or decades. You have to put the work in it (similar to a bike and it’s chain, you need to lubricate that chain).
But overall, it’s a solid deal and often goes on sale for under $22. The KastKing ReelTune Reel Care Kit is highly recommended!
