Take a ride to a spectacular viewpoint overlooking Mt. Fuji and 150,000 azalea bushes! “Amariyama Taxi 2026 – Azalea Service” begins operation on May 30th.

The Nirasaki City Tourism Association (Nirasaki City, Yamanashi Prefecture) will operate a reservation-only shared taxi service, “Amariyama Taxi 2026 – Azalea Service,” connecting JR Nirasaki Station and Amariyama Mountain for a limited time from Saturday, May 30th to Sunday, June 14th, 2026.

Mount Amari, at an elevation of 1,731m, is one of the prefecture’s most scenic spots, where approximately 150,000 rhododendron bushes bloom in early summer, dyeing the mountainside crimson. It is accessible by car almost to the summit, and a short 20-minute walk from the parking lot offers a magnificent panoramic view of Mount Fuji, the Yatsugatake Mountains, and the Kofu Basin, making it extremely popular with hikers and photography enthusiasts.

On the other hand, there is no public transportation connecting the station to the mountaintop, making access a challenge for those without private cars. This project is a tourism support project aimed at allowing more people to experience the nature of Nirasaki while minimizing environmental impact.

■ Three key points of “Amariyama Taxi 2026”
1. Outstanding cost performance

Normally, a one-way taxi ride from Nirasaki Station to Amariyama costs approximately 8,000 yen for one person, but this service costs only 3,000 yen one way. You save about 5,000 yen while enjoying a comfortable journey.

2. A schedule that allows you to freely adjust your stay time.

The tour departs the station at 8:45 AM and returns at 3:00 PM. You can enjoy a variety of activities at your own pace, from a light hike where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch at the summit to a full-fledged trek to Mt. Oku-Amari and Mt. Sentoboshi.

3. Gifts as a perk for passengers

All users will receive either an original Amariyama sticker or a tenugui (Japanese hand towel), which can only be obtained here.
