Enjoy an easy outdoor experience in the popular “Montbell cot rooms” that were added during the 2023 renovation. From May 1st, reservations will also be accepted for the “reserved shared taxi” that connects to the scenic mountaintop.
Nirasaki City in Yamanashi Prefecture will begin the 2026 season at its municipal accommodation facility, “Amariyama Green Lodge,” located within the Southern Alps UNESCO Eco-Park, from late April.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary since opening in 1976, this facility underwent a renovation in 2023 to meet diverse accommodation needs, including the addition of “outdoor-style Western-style rooms (equipped with Montbell cots and sleeping bags)” and the development of an auto campsite. Boasting an exceptional location at an altitude of 1,600m, just a 30-minute walk from the mountaintop, the facility is in season in June when 150,000 rhododendron bushes and Mount Fuji create a spectacular view.
If you want to enjoy a relaxing camping trip in a quiet location and immerse yourself in nature, then we recommend Amariyama Green Lodge, a municipal accommodation facility located on Mt. Amariyama (elevation 1731m, Nirasaki City, Yamanashi Prefecture), one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Yamanashi Prefecture and a foothill of the Southern Alps.
Located at an altitude of 1600m, this facility is equipped with shower rooms and a kitchen, and cooking utensils are also provided, so you can easily enjoy an outdoor experience if you bring your own ingredients. It can also be rented out for up to 35 people, making it ideal for employee training and other accommodation programs.
A BBQ area for day camping is also available. Various events are planned every month, including yoga, bread making, mountain climbing lessons, nature observation sessions, vegetation conservation activities, and music events, so be sure to check the facility’s website first.
[Recommended Points!]
Located in a subalpine zone, this campsite is known as “the campsite above the clouds” because it often offers breathtaking views of a sea of clouds in the early morning and evening. It’s a hidden gem that’s gradually gaining repeat visitors from both within and outside the city.
And speaking of Mount Amari, it is known for its large colony of Rhododendron molle that dyes the entire mountaintop crimson from early to mid-June. There are said to be about 150,000 plants, and every year this season the mountain attracts the most hikers of the year.
If the weather is good, you can see Mount Fuji stretching all the way to its base from the summit to the south, a breathtaking view that you should definitely see if you come to Amariyama. The Mount Fuji viewpoint is just a 10-minute walk from the nearest Amariyama parking lot. The summit is only about a 30-minute hike away, allowing you to enjoy an exceptional location in the sky.
A trek from Mt. Amari to another of Yamanashi’s 100 Famous Mountains, Mt. Sentoboshiyama (2,139m), which can be reached in about two hours, is a hidden gem and a popular route among mountain climbing enthusiasts. This entire area, located within the buffer zone of the Southern Alps UNESCO Eco-Park, is a wonderful field that offers us a variety of experiences in nature.
