A passenger suffered a fracture after a limited express train driver mishandled the brakes.
According to JR Kyushu, at around 1:30 p.m. on the 23rd, the driver of the southbound limited express train “Aso Boy!” made a braking error between Minami-Kumamoto Station and Shin-Suizenji Station on the Hohi Line, causing the train to come to a sudden stop.
Of the approximately 20 passengers, an adult woman fell and suffered serious injuries, including fractures to her upper body. The cause was that the driver mistakenly applied the emergency brakes when attempting to stop the train at Shin-Suizenji Station. JR Kyushu stated that they will “thoroughly instruct their drivers and strive to prevent recurrence.”
