The One about the Redragon K685 Faye Pro 104-key tri-mode mechanical keyboard

I have often talked about how impressed I am with Redragon mechanical keyboards as of late.

When I first reviewed Redragon products years ago, they were pretty much going after the low budget mechanical keyboard product but then they started venturing into middle-level to high-level products and so far it has been a positive experience.

Today, I am reviewing the Redragon K685 Faye Pro 104-key tri-mode mechanical keyboard.

So, what we have here is a under $65 keyboard that features a gasket design (instead of screw fixed, Redgragon uses precision-locked covers with gaskets) and has three layers of noise dampening with a 3.5mm PO sound-absorbing and 2 dampening foams. Simply, this keyboard was created with sound dampening in mind.

In fact, it also features pre-lubed linear red switches with a gasket form factor and the FAYE PRO’s feature faster, quiet and linear typing feedback. And the switches are hot swappable as long as they are 3/5 pins.

The keyboard will also attract those who like the white/blue keycaps but if you want all white, Redragon offers extra white keycaps to replace the blue if needed. Keycap puller, USB-C cable and a generous offering of extra red switches (a total of eight).

The mechanical keyboard comes with a 3000mAh battery, which is great as most keyboards tend to offer 1000mAh and it works on both Windows and Mac machines (a switch is on the upper right corner to switch).

The keyboard also features LED lighting for those who want to know if CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK are on.

For those who want to switch to different modes can easily access the switch on the upper right corner. Personally, I wish this came with a blue volume knob on the upper right and the mode switches were put on the rear of the mechanical keyboard.

But I do like the mechanical keyboard and it’s blue/white theme.

For those wondering with the gasket design and the stock linear red switches, if they are super quiet. I have to say that this is slightly louder, some people may mistake them for brown switches. They are not super quiet and I’m sure if I was typing a report in the office with it, some people maybe able to hear it. But for the most part, it’s hard to complain considering the mechanical keyboard is priced at $65.

This is probably one of the few gasket designed mechanical keyboards you will find at this price, so Redragon does managed to keep things affordably as they have always done.

But I do feel it’s a good entry keyboard if anything. Especially for those who don’t want to spend over $65 and want to learn about customizing their own keyboard and need those LED indicators and love the white/blue design.

The Redragon K685 Faye Pro 104-key tri-mode mechanical keyboard is definitely worth considering!
