The One about the Tomica Premium #33: Ferrari FXX-K

Today’s Tomica review is the Tomica Premium #33: Ferrari FXX-K, based on the high performance limited production track day car manufactured by Ferrari in Maranello, Italy.

The car is designed by Marco Fainello, Adrian Mendez and architect Samuel Rodriguez and is based on the street-legal and Ferrari’s first hybrid, LaFerrari.

Only 42 cars were built between 2015-2017 and in 2016, the car was awarded the Compasso d’Oro industrial design award. And those who own one, these are kept and maintained by Ferrari and are available to ride on track day events, as these vehicles are part of Ferrari’s Client Test Driver program and the program is to collect data for future Ferrari road and race cars.

And the vehicle can reach 350 km/h (217 mph) and has a total power output of 1,050 PS.

Which leads us to the Tomica Premium #33: Ferrari FXX-K. For those who don’t know the history, Mattel (who owns Hot Wheels and Matchbox) had the diecast license exclusive to Ferrari, but then May Cheong Group in China (who owns Maisto and bburago) then had the exclusive license.

And in 2018, Takara Tomy announced that they will be producing Ferrari models (looks like Maesto does the larger scale and Tomica will be the 1/64 scale) and have done so for the past number of years and really giving the line solid treatment.

When you purchase a a Tomica Premium Ferrari, you will noticed on one side, you will get the label that shows “Ferrari Official Product”, the other side with the Ferrari logo.  And as always, Tomica boxed vehicles come in a plastic baggie.

But first, let’s see how the original car looks like before reviewing the Tomica Premium version!

And now, let’s take a look at the Tomica Premium version of the Ferrari FXX-K!

The vehicle is quite beautiful to look at.  Featuring the car’s large splitter and its small headlights (the gray portion is painted, in front of it are very small headlights as the car was designed for aerodynamics).  While the rear features a higher tail and an electronically operated spoiler with a tail fin and small wing on each fin to maximize downforce.

I love the logo placements on the car.  I noticed how the “Produced under license of Ferrari” wording is in white and quite pronounced underneath.

I have seen variations of the Ferrari FXX K (with each numbered version, each are quite different in colors), with the Italian flag colors featured on the side panel of the door but also the Petersen Automotive Museum version (a black vehicle) with the flag right at the front.

For a premium product, I would have loved to see the doors open and some of the black on the rims between the spokes, but nevertheless, still happy to see this 1/64 scale vehicle looking so beautiful and awesome from Tomica.

There is a light gray variation of the vehicle released by Tomica with the #55 on the side and in comes in a red box as opposed to the black box.

But overall, the Tomica Premium #33: Ferrari FXX-K is a welcomed addition to anyone’s diecast metal vehicle collection!  While a 2021 release, you can still purchase the red version at retail price, the gray variation a bit more online.
