The SOMKTN Planetarium Projector is an interesting device for those looking for a planetarium projector.
The main device is powered by USB and comes with a simple button to turn on and off, a shut off sleep feature and in the device is a place where a cartridge is placed.
You get 12 cartridges and one can fit at one time. The projector displays the images to your roof and wall and for one, it’s quite cool because you can easily rotate the projector.
But is it perfect? Well, it works perfectly but the problem is that the planetarium film sheets are more like creative artwork of planets. I was hoping to get more realistic planets and many stars or something to make you feel you are looking when you are in a rural area and can see the stars around you. I was hoping something like that versus planets (ie. a fiery planet) or phases of an eclipse. But fortunately, there are other film sheets included.
For the most part, it works and the 4K images are crisp, clear and vibrant and the device can easily be be shined upon a wall or ceiling with efficacy.
I have used planetarium projectors and sometimes the stars don’t look realistic, but for this one utilizing 4K artwork, it looks great! So, I have to say this is the best one I have used by far!
