The One about the SAMSOX 1-Pair Merino Wool Expedition Socks

I have reviewed a few hiking songs in the past and there has been a well-known brand known for its quality (but you tend to have to pay a bit higher for that quality).

Well, I’m going to try another company that is known for its quality but also a few dollars cheaper than the other brand.

This time I’m reviewing SAMSOX’s “Merino Wool Expedition Socks”.

They run about $25 and are fully cushioned and are heavy weight crew socks made in the USA.

These socks are 83% wool, 16% nylon and 1% LYCRA Spandex. [Note: The more expensive brand competition that I used featured a 64% Merino Wool, 33% Nylon and 3% LYCRA Spandex blend, so there is a difference!].

Just by holding and feeling these songs, you can tell they are durable and I like the seamless toe closure, mesh panels for ventilation and also that it does have moisture-wicking fibers.

But these are definitely performance, high quality socks that you are paying $25.

I tend to bring hiking socks when I travel. For one, there is always some mountain area I am visiting but also places that require a heavy amount of walking.

Walking nearly 12-24 miles each day, it can take a toll on your feet but while I was prepared with band-aids and such and to prevent blisters from getting worse, I remember back then, I wore 2-3 socks (which was insane but it worked) but since used hiking/expedition socks.

Usually I like to know more about the company but aside from being sold on Amazon, noticed that Samsox[dot]com is down, so I can’t look into the history of the company.

But these socks are a much better blend of wool percentage which is ideal for for winter. While knitting is well done, the Samsox socks feel comfortable, I know their competitor, the more expensive brand prides itself with their fine gauge knitting and high stitch count and lifetime guarantee. While Samsox assures reinforcements added to heel and toe to assure long lasting durability.

If anything, I’m just hoping to see overtime, how long the SAMSOX’s “Merino Wool Expedition Socks” will last before things start to weaken. But for the most part, these are high quality socks and I may need to check out Samsox other socks before I embark on other travel expeditions.
