I came up with an idea of what if there was an Arctic Gundam. Primarily a group based in frigid condition. At first, I had an idea of going with an all white “ghost” type of Gundam, but in the end, I decided, why not use both gray and white.
So, to make it battle damaged and also wanting to use the Gundam weathering kit that included snow, I figured let’s do something different.
The scenario I had in my head was an Arctic Gundam that was not used for some time, as it has been damaged. And while new models were being utilized, there was one Gundam that had gotten repairs but the exterior wasn’t replaced or cleaned up or anything to make it look better. It’s still full of grime, mud, snow and even has spider webs and it looks really like it’s in bad shape.
But because base has been attacked, a brave pilot has one option that is left and that is the beaten up, battle damaged RX-78-2 Arctic Gundam.
While the weathering is easily done with the official Gundam weathering kits, I wanted a rougher paint to make it look as grimy as possible, so I used an acrylic based gray paint.
A lot of things I would never ever do on a Gunpla, I did for this Arctic Gundam custom.
