I’m going to be truthful, I didn’t think we are going to see another Polo Denim & Supply – Cowboy Bear sweater anytime soon.
We now have a brand new one in 2022 and there are some similarities to the 2021 Polo Denim & Supply – Cowboy Bear, but also major differences.
First, let me show you the first version, which I have:
While the pose looks the same, the outfit is completely different and also a red truck is in the background.
While the first version, was based on an outfit that I featured in my article.
As for the Ralph Lauren – Polo Denim & Supply – Cowboy Bear (2022), here are the differences.
This 2022 version is much different. It looks like it borrows from different photos of Ralph Lauren as a cowboy. For one, he often can be seen wearing a blue denim oxford and either a white oxford underneath or henley underneath.
As for the cowboy hat, Ralph Lauren has been consistent of wearing the same tan/beige cowboy hat without a brown band but both polo bear sweaters do feature the brown band. But I noticed that he is not wearing a buckle in this second version. The last version, the buckle was seen clearly.
The red truck has been seen with a cowboy Ralph Lauren in the background before. So, I liked how they added that to this 2022 sweater.
Now does he wear a red handkerchief around his neck. I haven’t seen red, but I have seen blue.
As for the beige jacket, the closest I have seen to it was this one and as you can see, Ralph is also wearing a vest underneath.
For the most part, this newer Polo Denim & Supply – Cowboy Bear is very cool. It matches the olive green sweater really well, and you have the RL in red on the bottom.
I do like this design a lot and having the truck in the background is a major plus.
My only concern is the jeans.
If you look in my review for the first version, the jeans on the final product versus the product shown on the shop site are completely different.
And in the shop photo, you see the dark and blue patterns and less of the light blue. Well, from the first version, I was expecting that but all of the jeans were primarily light blue.
So, I am not sure if the version people will get, will be the same exact version that is shown on the shop photo.
But aesthetically, I do like this 2022 version over 2021. I like the strong and the metal buttons, I love the overall clothing look as well. The style is on point.
Granted, last year is not bad, in fact, I feel it identifies closer to Ralph Lauren and what he wears versus this version. I do feel the red truck makes the cowboy bear pop much more.
But what is missing with a cowboy bear that is modeled after cowboy Ralph Lauren is one important part…. the belt buckle.
For cowboy Ralph Lauren, the buckle has always been a centerpiece. Look at any Ralph Lauren cowboy photo and find a photo with him wearing blue denim and not wearing a belt and buckle. I have not seen one without it.
Nevertheless, let’s say you are not hung up on the buckle, then you can just feel that the cowboy bear looks great. Granted, again, I can’t say much about the denim, as I don’t own the 2022 version. But I do hope it’s closer to the shop photos, than how the 2021 version was not.
According to the description, the cowboy polo bear is “Inspired by an archival photograph of Mr. Lauren, this sweater’s Polo Bear wears a denim outfit—detailed with engraved metal buttons—and stands in front of a truck. Ralph Lauren partners with Better Cotton™ to improve cotton farming globally. Better Cotton trains farmers to use water efficiently, care for the health of the soil and natural habitats, reduce use of the most harmful chemicals, and implement the principles of decent work”.
The sweater is regular fit, crew neck, rib-knit hem with the RL embroidered. Polo Bear intarsia-knit at the center front. Engraved metal buttons at the front. This product is sourced via a system of mass balance and therefore may not contain Better Cotton.
And like other Polo Bear sweaters, it must be hand washed or dry cleaned.
Overall, I can’t really complain about the Ralph Lauren – Polo Denim & Supply – Cowboy Bear (2022) sweater, because it’s very cool looking. But definitely make sure those blue jeans matches the shop photo.
