As a person who plays a lot of VR golf, I have tested numerous golf club handle attachments and this time around, I will be reviewing the AMVR Golf Club Handle Attachment for Meta Controllers.
First, I must say that I love the price for under $60. A lot of golf club handle attachments go above $60 and the fact that it’s under $60 is a plus.
So, what is a golf club adapter for?
It’s specifically for the VR golfer who plays golf in real life and wants to work on their swing, their stance, etc.
With the AMVR Golf Club Handle Attachment for Meta Controllers, you can get an attachment that has a good grip and it extends, for those who want a little realism.
But is it perfect? Well, let’s get into the review.
There are attachments that are kept in place with a clamp, some use velcro and some use the Meta controller wrist band (or rope, whichever you want to call it).
This one goes into a plastic slot but it’s held to the attachment through tying the wrist rope around and then hooking it to a bottom clip.
Does it work? Yes, it prevents the Meta controller from flying out during your swing, and that is a plus.
But do I like it compared to others I have tested?
I will say that to have an extendable golf club attachment, many companies nearly price their attachments for over $90, so the fact that this is under $60 is great.
With that being said, while I was able to drive and putt, one thing that concerned me the most are mostly chips. I felt the Meta controller was not held in place as tightly as I would hope. There was some movement that made my shots not happen. In fact, there were times where I did test swings and it would hit the ball even though my aim was far from the ball, and it was usually due to the controller moving while in its socket.
Typically with some adapters, there is a secondary attachment from the top that holds the ring portion in place, to prevent movement, everything is through the bottom on this attachment which is not perfect.
It’s sad because, the extendable club, the wonderful grip and the ease of use should make it a top contender but without something holding the top portion in place and just the bottom, there is more movement of the controller than I would like, and it affected my shots.
While a good golf club attachment, I do believe that having top and bottom support to lock the controller in place is important.
The AMVR Golf Club Handle Attachment for Meta Controllers is one that should be top tier but without top support to help lock the controller in place, it’s good, but not great.
