The One about the Hembisen Handheld Carbon Monoxide Meter with 12“ Gooseneck Tube

If there is things for safety one should have in their home, a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector, a natural gas detector (for those who tend to have issues with their gas stove or are forgetful) and also a CO2 Detector.

Some people think Carbon Monoxide and CO2 are the same, but both are different and both require their own detectors. And in the home, as important as it is to be a smoke detector, one should also have a carbon Monoxide and a Carbon Dioxide Meter.

Carbon Monoxide are detectors best kept up high, while Carbon Dioxide detectors are good to keep lower.

And Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, flammable gas that is slightly less dense than air. While Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a colorless and non-flammable gas at normal temperature pressure. The latter is primarily used to check for air quality and also important to have to detect the gas levels in your home, especially when you turn on your oven.

In the US, Carbon Monoxide kills more than 500 Americans from accidental exposure and thousands needs emergency care for non-fatal carbon monoxide poisoning. May it be through house fires or faulty gas appliances. You may have heard stories of people sleeping in their home or apartment or even at a hotel that had a leaking gas device and unfortunately, when you do hear news about it, it’s typically fatalities.

So, it’s important to have various detectors in your home. But I also learned that not all detectors work the same. They tend to be +/- off by a few but the only way one is going to know is if they have more than one device.

I use the Hembisen Handheld Carbon Monoxide Meter with 12“ Gooseneck Tube as my primary tester.

This tester gives reliable readings and tests for the tiniest air leakage from 0-1000PPM detection range. Of course, this is primarily for testing at locations. As opposed to a Carbon Monoxide detector which runs off batteries and hung on top of your wall or shelf. But I use this device to test out the accuracy of the carbon monoxide detectors in the home.

The device has an LED digital display and a turnwheel on the side to turn it on. It also has a sound and light alarm.

The gooseneck tube is great to test gas sources in the tightest spaces, deep or high and it’s easy to use. Turn it on and just let it run for 30 seconds or so and you will get the results rather quickly.

The device comes with 3 AAA’s and there is also a two year warranty for this device.

Overall, I have been able to test the accuracy of my carbon monoxide detectors with this device to make sure there are no discrepancies and they are accurate.

The Hembisen Handheld Carbon Monoxide Meter with 12“ Gooseneck Tube is highly recommended!
