One thing that you will notice online are people writing how expensive “Polo Bear” clothing is. Is it?
Well, for men, the knit sweaters are under $400, fleece hoodies around $150, t-shirts under $60 but the latter two go on sale, the knit sweaters, not so much.
But the concept of pricing is always subjective. For US pricing, I guess it can be seen as expensive. But when you start traveling to other countries and seeing other various brands, you realize maybe it’s not so bad.
Of course, this blog post is not about other brands, I’m going to talk about the Polo Bear Knit Sweaters. Not the luxurious Purple Label, just Polo Bear, even if the Polo Bear touches upon other Ralph Lauren brands, the general price in the USA is $398 (under $400) and because of the pricing, you are hit with the $25-$28 sales tax (depending on your state).
$400 is a lot for a cotton or wool sweater with a stylish teddy bear in the front and its also a huge jump in price compared to when they first went on sale during the ’90s.
But would you believe that in the US, that Ralph Lauren Polo Bear knit sweaters are much cheaper than in other countries?
You better believe it.
In Japan, if you want to purchase the same Polo Bear $398 knit sweater from the US, you would have to pay Y63,800 ($554) in Japan.
In Hong Kong, a Polo Bear Knit Sweater at $398 in the US would go for 3900 HKD ($500).
In other Asian countries where they coordinate with other shops, for example, for Lazada in Singapore, they charge $599 for a Polo Bear knit sweater.
In European countries, if you want to purchase the same Polo Bear $398 knit sweater, you would have to pay around 399,00 Euro which is around $451.82.
So, in a way, the Ralph Lauren Polo Bear sweaters are actually much cheaper in the US, may it be through the RalphLauren.com site, Macy’s, Bloomingdale, Nordstrom, Saks 5th Avenue or if you were fortunate to get it on sale through the Ralph Lauren Outlet or a special sale through those department stores (let alone, if those department stores offer reward points).
Some international RalphLauren.com sites offer sales on Polo Bear sweaters, something you just don’t see on the RalphLauren.com USA site.
But yes, Ralph Lauren Polo Bear sweaters are not cheap by any means. If you don’t want to spend over $325, then you can find Polo Bear sweaters (new) sold by resellers on eBay. You may find sweaters going for $250-$300. TIP: Just remember that with the price and even with free shipping or with added shipping, you’ll need to add the $25-$28 for taxes (if you buy online from any shop, you’ll have to pay for the taxes regardless).
But for those in the US, just know how fortunate that the pricing of a Polo Bear sweater is much more cheaper than what it is priced in other countries.
