Claire escapes from NYC to a town in Vermont for the holidays but finds Christmas celebrations have been canceled & the bookstore is in a state of disrepair. She takes on the challenge to revitalize the store, but discovers that the owner’s planning to sell the bookstore in the New Year. Will the spirit of Christmas be enough to change his mind?

For day 43, I watched the Liftetime Television holiday film “Christmas Around the Corner”.

Directed by actress Megan Follows (best known for her role as Anne in the popular ’80s films “Anne of Green Gables” and stars in “Heartland”, “The Repuyblic of Sarah”)  and written by Michael J. Murray,

The film stars Alexa Breckenridge (“Virgin River”, “This is Us”, “The Walking Dead”), Jamie Spilchuk (“Suits”, “In the Dark”), Jane Alexander (“Kramer vs. Kramer”, “The Cider House Rules”, “The Ring”) and many more.

The film revolves around New York-based venture capitalist Claire (portrayed by Alexandra Breckenridge) and had a disaster with a failed IPO.  Wanting to escape after the disaster and enjoy Christmas, she decides to go to a town in Vermont that is known for its Christmas festivities and becomes a guest of the Fortenbury Bookstore.

But upon arriving, she learns that the Christmas festivities have been canceled by the city and needless to say, the town was not what she expected it to be.

And the bookstore that she is staying at is in a bad state.

But because Claire is quite savvy, she decides to revitalize the store, but also hopes to bring back Christmas to town.  But because of her big ideas and her positive presence, it tends to clash with owner Andrew (portrayed by Jamie Spilchuk).

Can Claire’s vibrant attitude change everyone for the positive?

For the most part, I enjoyed “Christmas Around the Bookstore” for its positive message.  As Claire looks to turn an old bookstore and give it a Christmas flair, as the Christmas has been sucked out of the entire town.  But seeing her positivity and love for Christmas become infectious and everyone slowly warming their hearts of enjoying Christmas, I like that.

For the most part, this is an entertaining holiday film.  “Christmas Around the Corner” is a holiday film with positive vibes and worth checking out!
