The One about the JJFUN Portable Video Game Console

2020 has been a year where I have seen numerous handhold game consoles and while in the earlier year, previous handheld game consoles by third party makers, resembled a Gameboy, now we have something that resembles a first gen Gameboy Advance with DS buttons with the JJFUN Portable Video Game Console which offers 480 classic games.

It also functions as an educational device as it comes with a clock and also a compass. Even I was surprised to see this.

The device comes with a gamepad that looks like the old school Nintendo Famicom, has a Li-ion battery for charging, an AV cable to plug into your TV and also a 32GB TF Card which stores a large portion of the games.  And it comes with a convenient red gift box.

At under $34, the game console made of plastic feels like it would shatter if dropped on a hard surface, so just know that in advance prior to purchasing the console.  You may want to add a strap, just in case your kids don’t drop it.

Now the battery life of the 1800mAh large capacity li-ion battery is a plus as the earlier game consoles only came with an 800mAh, so a 1800 mAh ensures for longer gameplay.

The JJFUN Portable Video Game Console comes in black, blue and red.

Once turned on, you have a choice of Flash Game (without the card installed, you only have a 180 games built-in) or Card Game (with the TF card installed, you would select card).  In past consoles, they had multiple language support, this one doesn’t.

The 480 games included are a plethora of NES games released in the U.S. and in Asia.   Unfortunately, similar to a lot of handheld game consoles likes these, you will find some lists that are not in alphabetical order.

For many of the games, they are in English and you will find games like the various “Mario” NES games, as well as “Ninja Gaiden”, “Gradius”, “Adventure Island” and more.  And you will find many of the Japanese version of the games.  Many Japanese RPG’s are not included, but I suspect it’s because they chose games that many people in the English-speaking market could easily play and understand.  But fans of platform adventure games and shmups will love this.

There is no save function, but a lot of games didn’t have that function back then and gave you long passwords.

But with that being said, considering the price is around $34, the fact that you have so many NES games included in this handheld game console is pretty cool.

The screen is easy to see and is well-lit.  So, you don’t have need a light shining on it (like the only first Gen GBA).

It’s important to emphasize that the games featured are 8-bit, not 16, not 32.

Also, I find it much easier to play than the previous handheld consoles which were GB-shaped, so less cramping on the hands.

Overall, for those who miss the old classic school games on their classic NES/Famicom console and want an affordable handheld gaming console with a plethora of 8-bit games, including popular Nintendo titles, the JJFUN Portable Video Game Console is recommended.
