Tokyo Dome City is one of the few who tends to kick off their Christmas winter lllumination early and this year’s event will kick off on November 13th and will last through Christmas day.
This year’s illumination event is titled “Tokyo Dome City (Sumairumi) Smile x Illumination”.
This year’s theme will feature illuminations full of smiles. Back in 1972, when bad news was often seen, the “Ryakusho Smile” (Smiley face) was used to emphasize good news in newspaper publications to spread a little happiness. It has a higher affinity with music when it was founded but it influenced many musicians and pop culture across generations. And now, it has become a presence that reminds society of the power of a “Smile”.
