The One about Sakuragi Shrine in Bunkyo ward

Not far from Tokyo Dome and Tokyo University is the small shrine Sakuragi Shrine (aka Sakuragi Tenjin).

If you are going to be visiting Hongo-sanchome Station, it’s right nearby, so it’s worth a stroll to check it out.

According to the Shinto shrine tradition, the spirit of Kanko was solicited from the shrine in Kitano, Kyoto. 4 years (1691) moved to the current location.

There is no doubt a long history with this shrine. Reading the history is actually hard to make out because of the discussion of the spirit if Kanko, the shrine of red and white plumbs and the rest goes over my head.

I do know that during the Meiji Era, during the separation of Shinto and Bhuddism, the name of the shrine became Kashiwagi Shrine, before being called Sakuragi Shrine.

But for the Tokyo University students, the place is popular for those who are taking exams and want to offer their prayers.

There are chicken that are grown but I didn’t see them.

The shrine has various Shinto rituals and festivals throughout the year but people also come to the shrine on New Year’s Eve and right at midnight on New Year’s Day, the Setsubun Festival on Feb. 3rd, Inari Festival on April 1st and more.

Again, if you happen to be in the area, it’s a small shrine worth walking by.
