The One about the Shibuya University T-Shirt

I recently discovered Shibuya University t-shirts on Amazon and I have to say that this shirt caught my attention because of the Shibuya University in kanji and the overall logo.

Before I begin my review, it’s important to note that in terms of a real college, Shibuya University does not exist.  In fact, the only college near Shibuya Station or near Omotesando is United Nations University (popular location for their farmer’s market).

While there is a Shibuya University, which is a not a college per se, but a free, community-based life longing learning program that takes place in the street, record shops, museums, etc.  They are spelled with kanji for Shibuya and then University.

These T-shirts are from Shibuya University and you get a cool logo in the center and the Shibuya Daigaku in Kanji.

If anything, it looks cool and for those outside of Japan, to have a shirt with the kanji and the popular ward of Shibuya, and it’s wonderful district and shopping areas of Shibuya, Harajuku, Daikanyama, etc.  It’s no doubt appealing.

With that being said, I have reviewed Japanese clothing and I have always emphasized that Japanese sizing runs small.

For example, if you wear size large, you will want to go Japanese XXL.  If you wear an XL, you will want to go XXXL (3XL) especially to compensate if the shirt does shrink a little, even if its 100% cotton.

But overall, it’s a cool t-shirt and as t-shirts tend to be in Japanese pricing, the $35-40 is not bad.

So, if you are looking for a Japanese shirt, with kanji lettering and not at all offensive, then definitely give this Shibuya University T-shirt a try.
