I actually took my time testing the Divoom Tivoo Max and as a person who owns expensive, high end Bluetooth speakers, I can honestly say that this has to be the coolest bluetooth speakers that I have come across.
The Divoom Tivoo Max features 2.1 stereo drivers with an active sub-woofer running 40 watts of audio power and possibly the coolest aspect of the speaker is that it features 256 LED customizable front panel.
With the Divoom app, you can create your own pixel art design or download many pixel art designs from around the world. As well as chat, comment with other pixel art designers.
In addition, the speaker has social media notifications, has a smart alarm clock, thermometer, weather conditions, schedule planner, pixel games and so much more! Including sleep-aid profiles… Really? What bluetooth speakers offers all this?
In addition, with the mobile app, you can stream Internet radio stations and it’s easy to connect your mobile device (iOS and Android) to the speakers and to stream audio, it’s quite easy.
The design utilizes a classic retro design but the best part of the Divoom Tivoo Max has to be the pixel art. I’m impressed of the anime and video game-based designs that people have created and everything looks so cool!
And while the functions are great, it’s the sound that I find impressive.
As mentioned, I own high end Bluetooth speakers and part of what drives me up the wall is how the Bluetooth is unreliable at times and just loses connection. So far, I have been able to stream music with no delays or connection losses.
And I do like the fact that the batteries do last long on the device.
But if there was one thing that I wish that I could do, was stream audio from a PC/Mac. The computer will detect the Bluetooth but the device is primarily for iOs and Android devices.
It’s important to note that this is a multi-function speaker device that is app-based. As a lot of companies, may it be door bell video security, light switches to this bluetooth speaker, more and more hardware are going towards app-based smartphone controls. And this device is one of them. So, know that in advance and whether or not you feel comfortable with that.
You can use the device as a speaker and have the pre-programmed LED lights and easily connect to your smartphone as the pairing button is on the side of the device. If you don’t want to install the smartphone app, you don’t have to unless you want to use the other functions this speaker has to offer.
Overall, I tested this device for a few months, just to make sure it didn’t breakdown on me and that the device continued to work without any problems, as with the software app and so far, everything has been running perfectly after all these months.
This device is much better than I anticipated especially for the price.
