The One about How to Sing the Yomiuri Giants Team Song “Tokonkomete” during the 7th Inning

The Yomiuri Giants won the Central League pennant for the first time in five years, beating second-place Yokohama DeNA Baystars at Yokohama Stadium on Saturday.

And many people who are Yomiuri Giants fans or are just becoming NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) fans and have the Yomiuri Giants as their team, keep asking me on how to sing the team song, “Tokonkomete” (Fighting Spirit), so hopefully this video helps.

This may suprise people but the theme song “Tokonkomete” is actually the third Yomiuri Giants theme song, which began in 1963.

The first theme song for the Yomiuri Giants was “Yakyu no Oja” (Baseball Champion) from 1939 to 1949.

The second tehme song for the Yomiuri Giants is “Giant’s Song” which lasted from 1949 to 1962:

As for the third song “Tokonkomete”, the song commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Yomiuri Giants back in 1963 and was selected among 20,892 entries and continues to be used today.

And during baseball season, the song is used at JR Suidobashi Station:
