The One about the Impossible Burger at Burger King

Greetings everyone.  I am back from KCON LA 2019 and was able to have an excellent time in the Los Angeles area.

I did something which I don’t usually do and that’s to go to a fast food restaurant but for the sake of a foodie blog post, I decided to try the “Impossible Burger” at Burger King which has been receiving a lot of rave reviews.

The Impossible Patty is made entirely from plant-based sources and because it’s sold in Burger King, it is cooked on the same broiler as their WHOPPER Patties.  But if you would like it prepared without using the broiler, they can do it.

According to Burger King, the Impossible Patty is made from soy and potato protein, coconut oil, sunflower oil and so, being a veggie burger eater, I had to give it a try!

The burger is sold for $6.99 and $8.49 (or $8.69+ tax) for the combo (fries and drink) and it came out to $9.49 for me.  Expensive in the US but cheaper than other countries, so I’m game! Let’s try it!

It looks like a WHOPPER with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and ketchup with mayo.

As for the taste, it was delicious but I had to think, this is a veggie burger?  I’ve tried many plant-based, veggie burgers and this one tastes like meat.

Did they mess up my order?  This really tastes like beef, but they assured me it’s 0% beef.

Unlike other veggie burgers, I couldn’t tell the difference between this and the regular WHOPPER patty and it was delicious.  Granted, there’s not a whole lot on the burger itself but it was good!

But now the question, is it worth the $9.50 for the combo?  That’s subjective.  For me, I don’t visit fast food restaurants, unless I need blogging material or when I am traveling to another country.

It was good to give it a try and it was delicious, but in the back of my mind, for that much money, I can head to the store and purchase a box of veggie burgers at Costco or eat at a nicer restaurant which creates a more awesome veggie burger for the money.

But overall, it was a interesting experience, especially to see how an Impossible patty tasted like actual beef, but it’s really 0% beef.  With the use of Burger King’s broiler, it has the WHOPPER grilled taste which I like and that’s a plus.  Granted, hardcore vegetarians will probably opt for the non-broiler version to avoid any beef fat getting into their Impossible Patty.
