The One about the Bell Revolution MIPS Bike Helmet

A lot of the times, many people don’t put too much thought into the helmet they buy.  Many look for style and feel and expect the protection to happen because it’s a bike helmet.

Afterall, you spend money for a good helmet, you are expecting the best protection right?

I am a big believer in bike helmets and I often tell the story about riding my road bike, hitting a pot hole, falling and remembering my head about to hit the pavement.  If I wasn’t wearing a bike helmet, I would be dead.  The bike helmet took the brunt of hitting the pavement and just realizing, how I was fortunate that day.

A few years ago, I wrote about how I would love to get a helmet with MIPS technology.

MIPS is adding an extra layer which slides in all directions which may reduce the rotational movement transmitted to the brain during some impacts.

And in the past, a bike helmet with MIPS was expensive but now with the release of the Bell Revolution MIPS Bike Helmet, adults and children can now purchase a bike helmet with MIPS technology for around $25 (adult and $35 for children).

The Bell Revolution MIPS bike helmet has 14 vents, a visor and a dial fit system to adjust to the size of your head.

For the most part, this is an inexpensive bike helmet that has MIPS technology which is great!

Now why is it so cheap?

A lot of higher-end bike helmets offer double the amount of vents as ventilation system.  You want a ventilation system that combines active vents and internal exhaust channels that thrust cool air over the head and forces hot air out.

And there is also better protection with the more expensive helmets.

So, for Bell helmets, they offer a Bell Stratus MIPS road bike helmet which costs anywhere between $120-$160 which offers a polycarbonate roll cage and polycarbonate shell, with a ventilation system and MIPS.

With the Bell Revolution MIPS bike helmet, you are getting an inexpensive bike helmet with 14 vents, dial fit system and MIPS technology.

I will say that with the MIPS technology, this bike helmet is a great helmet for $25-$35.  The fact that it comes with MIPS technology, it’s a major plus and for parents looking for an inexpensive bike helmet for their children riding their bikes to and from school, or riding around the block, this is a good deal!

This is great for the casual bike rider riding around the town/city.

But for those who want to ride long distances, rides often and are more than likely riding an expensive road bike, sporting road bike shoes that lock into the pedals, then a more higher end bike helmet that provides great protection and ventilation is what I do recommend.
