The One about Edo Wonderland in Nikko – Part 10 – Final Thoughts

I have to say that Edo Wonderland has been one of the highlights from visiting Japan in the last decade.

I guess being a fan of Japanese cinema and watching a lot of samurai and ninja films or even anime that showcases Japan from long ago, I have visited villages to areas that showcase traditional Japanese culture.

But with Edo Wonderland, it’s a theme park that really does a great job of showcasing life in the Edo Period.

I was surprised of how big this theme park is.  I was gracious of how awesome and cool the staff were and for the most part, the six or seven hours I spent at the theater, I had an amazing time!

Part of Edo Wonderland’s charm is probably the scenery.  While Edo was the former name of Tokyo, Edo Wonderland is in Tochigi Prefecture at Nikko, so a theme park in the mountains is really fascinating.

For those wanting to get away from the big city and be up in the mountains, it helps to make Edo Wonderland and the famous temples and shrines at Nikko as a great 2-3 day trip.

But if you have been to visit Nikko before and want to make Edo Wonderland a day trip, that’s quite fine.  I did that and made sure to dedicate one of the days on JR Pass for Edo Wonderland at the end of my trip and booking my tickets through KLOOK made it so much easier.

Overall, Edo Wonderland, for me, it was one of my favorite experiences in Japan and I hope to revisit the location again someday in the future.
