When it comes to backpacks to carry your laptop, the Targus Voyager II Backpack offers you the protection but also has an isolate pouch for those who want to keep their food in Tupperware warm or cold.
The case will allow for a 17″ laptop and has a thick padded air mesh rear and wide, comfortable shoulder straps.
First, let’s take a look at the front of the back pack. What you get is a top pocket for quick access and soft-lined pocket with a hard padded front to protect glasses or smartphones.
You get the reflective silver stripe running right down the middle.
While the front may not feel like it comes with much, the goal for Targus with the Voyager II was anti-theft, so not having many things exposed for people to steal and a two-strapped lock to keep the hood in place and cover the main compartment inside and protecting your laptop and other things you may keep inside.
But what will surprise you is when you lift the anti-theft cover up.
You find out that the front area (right where you see the reflective strip) is an insulated pocket that keeps things hot and cold. It’s great to have that for those who may keep a tupperware of food, but I wouldn’t keep a tupperware with any liquid and your laptop in the same backpack. But I do like the feature!
In addition, is a huge pocket with a padded front, area to keep pens and paper, one zipper pocket and a small pocket.
The sides have a zippered pocket to keep beverages. There are actually two pockets, one zippered and below it is another pocket. For those wondering if its possible to put a water bottle in the zippered pocket, it will fit, but not completely, so you can’t zip the water bottle or PET bottle in there. So, both pockets can hold beverages, but I would probably keep the bottle in the zippered pocket to prevent from accidentally falling off, but the bottom pocket would suffice for quick access.
As mentioned, the Targus Voyager II features a comfortable, padded soulder strap and comes with a thick padded air mesh and centralair flow channel to ensure comfort and breathability. Included is a sternum strap and removable waist strap as well as a trolley strap to place on your luggage handle, as this backpack would work for travel.
Opening up the Targus Voyager II Backpack, you will find various compartments for laptop and tablet with extra space for more things.
What I like is you get a padded front in the front with a zippered pocket, two compartments that are padded and the rear padding.
So, this is a wonderful backpack that keeps laptop protection in mind.
And then in the bottom of the backpack is a zipper to unveil a protective hide-away rain cover.
A big question that many people may wonder is if you can use this backpack for traveling overseas and can be used as a carryon. Most airlines require your carryon to be 22 x 14 x 9 max (45 linear inches). This backpack is 14.5 x 7 x 20.5 inches (42 linear inches), so it is carryon safe.
JUDGMENT CALL:
Overall, the Targus Voyager II Backpack is perfect for use as a laptop backpack, for those needing a backpack that gives comfort but also wanting to know your electronics are perfectly safe and that the bag offers anti-theft. While not completely waterproof, it does come with a protective rain cover and also an insulated pocket for those who want to keep food in their bag. I also can see this backpack as a multi-purpose backpack for other uses. But the size, multiple pockets and loads of padding for protecting your devices also makes it perfect for traveling overseas.
If I had one thing that I did not like is that the backpack zip do not have rings, where you can put luggage locks. This is important for those who want security and traveling overseas and want to utilize luggage locks, especially on their final day when they have to check out but their flight doesn’t leave until late, most people leave their luggage for several hours in the luggage waiting room.
So, if you do plan to buy this backpack and are traveling overseas, purchase the smaller traveler locks (not with the stem or wide/thick) as they would fit in the zipper hole.
The Targus Voyager II Backpack is highly recommended!
