The One about Ryuzoji in Nikko

Halfway between the Heritage sites of Nikko and the stations is a Buddhist Temple called Ryuzoji.  And the temple is of the Tendai sect Shuunsan Masamiin Ryuzo.

This temple originated from Nikko mountains back in 1625 and was moved to the current area.  The temple was burned down in a fire in 1864.

In the area are eight tombstones of the Gishu Clan (of Hiroshima Prefecture) who fought in the Boshin War, known as the Japanese Revolution and was a civil war in Japan, fought from 1868 to 1869 between forces of the ruling Tokugawa shogunate and those seeking to return political power to the Imperial Court.

But if you are walking towards the station or to the Heritage site, you will find numerous old shrines and temples, so definitely use Google Maps to spot various destinations.  Also, click on the image below to see a larger image of possible destinations near the main strip.
