The One about the Fresno Breakfast House in Fresno, California

I wanted to introduce Angela to one of Fresno’s well-known restaurants that people come for breakfast, the Fresno Breakfast House.

As many people are used to going to the usual popular restaurant chains for breakfast, one thing I still support are local, mom and pop diners that I grew up with.

While I have no problem going to Denny’s or iHop for early breakfast, I do recommend that if you are staying in a town or some city, to check out the diners that locals like to visit and eat at.

The Fresno Breakfast House is located on Bullard, not far from Blackstone, and is open between 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

I ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich and Angela ordered a hashbrown with eggs.

While I don’t eat much meat, when I travel and if I visit a diner, I tend to like to order a Philly cheese steak, patty melt or a pastrami sandwich.  The restaurant had a Philly cheese steak, so I tried it and it was good, but of course, growing up with a grandfather who cooked cheese steak sandwiches often for me growing up and having tasted cheese steaks at so many locations, while tasty, I felt it needed a touch of sauce or mayo or something to bring out the flavor.  But it was good.

As for Angela’s breakfast, we both saw the size of that hashbrown and and she was quite pleased with her breakfast.

As for the location…

I really love the interior and also the outdoor eating areas.  The restaurant has a combination of class but also a touch of classic American diner-style atmosphere with the decoir.  The place was clean, tables were well-maintained and the customer service was quite excellent.

Depending on how busy the restaurant is,  you may have to wait a little longer for your food.

While I continue to give the restaurant a lot of love for it’s style and customer service, I do need to add that Fresno Breakfast House as mentioned, is not a chain and because of its location and its sizeable staff in offering solid customer service comes with a cost.

The place may be one of the most expensive breakfast restaurants that you will eat at.

Sure, I have eaten around the world and I’m used to paying up to $14-$20 for a breakfast meal, tack on another $4 for a drink and a tip and that can easily drive up the cost of your breakfast.  But I know that some people are not like that.

Many look for affordable breakfast that they can get for several dollars with their drink and spend under $8.

At the Fresno Breakfast House, Angela ordered eggs with hash brown, coffee and ice tea for almost around $16, I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak with orange juice (which is more expensive than soda, ice tea an the coffee) and it was almost $19, add a tip and it came out to over $40.

With that being said, I’m supportive of local restaurants and with the cost of having a business in California and paying staff, restaurants have to charge a bit more and people need to understand that.  But for those on a budget, Fresno Breakfast House’s prices may be a bit more than what the budget-minded foodie may want to spend.

But I will say that it’s one of the few local non-franchise breakfast establishments in Fresno that I did enjoy visiting.  I like the location, the interior, the customer service and overall ambiance and it’s definitely worth giving a try!
