The One about the Unicorn Gundam at Diver City Tokyo in Odaiba

When I visited Japan at the end of 2017, I was saying goodbye to the RG 1/1 RX-78-2 Ver. GFT statue that had been a fixture at Diver City Tokyo in Odaiba.

The Gundam that many of us have come to see and love would be dismantled and replaced with the Unicorn Gundam.

And to be truthful, I had mixed feelings.

The new Gundam would be 19.7 meters and is based on the Unicorn Gundam novel which began in 2007 and would receive a seven-episode original video animation release between 2010-2014.

The anime takes place in UC 0096, 16 years after the end of the One Year war, three years after “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s counterattack: and 27 years before Mobil Suit Gundam F91.

I haven’t watched the “Gundam Unicorn” series and I guess I may be too biased to the original series and films that it was hard for me to accept a new Gundam at the Diver City Tokyo spot.

But for those who missed the old school Gundam it’s still there but farther to the right of the statue via Gundam Docks:

But when I watched two of the three sets, I became more interested and am now looking forward to watching this series.

You can watch the two Gundam Unicorn videos here:
