The One about TRF (Tetsuya Komuro’s Rave Factory)

This year, one of Japan’s most successful pop group’s, TRF (Tetsuya Komuro’s Rave Factory) will be celebrating their 25th year anniversary.

When I first started listening to Japanese music, TRF was the first pop group I listened to.  In fact, I can remember it quite clearly, purchasing the album “trf: HYPER TECHNO MIX II” from Kinokuniya, not really sure what I was purchasing but knowing I liked their song “EZ DO DANCE”.  This led me purchasing their debut album “EZ DO DANCE” and “trf: HYPER TECHNO MIX” not long after.

For a college student, this was quite expensive considering Japanese music albums are nearly 4-5 times the price of an American album and spending $40 for an album is something I wasn’t accustomed to.

But I loved the music of trf so much that it was a dream come true for me when their music label Avex gave me the opportunity for an exclusive interview to interview TRF (note: around 1996, they went from “trf” to “TRF”) for their 15th anniversary back in 2008.

You can read my interview with TRF here!

I want to congratulate TRF for their 25th anniversary.  Not many pop groups are able to be as active, nor have their music played on media many years later.  They were no doubt a phenomenon when they first burst into the music scene and I will continue to listen to and follow this group as long as they continue to pump music out in the future.

Congratulations TRF!
