The One about the Dremel VC60-01 Velocity 7.0 Amp Hyper-Oscillating Ultimate Remodeling Tool Kit

When it comes to versatile tools that one should have in their home, the dremel is one of those useful tools to own.

And the Dremel VC60-01 Velocity 7.0 Amp Hyper-Oscillating Ultimate Remodeling Tool Kit is incredible!

I. WHAT’S IN THE BOX!

First, you along with the Dremel Velocity Oscillating Tool and the black tool bag, you also get a:

– VC490 Panel Blade
– VC494 Pipe & 2×4 Blade
– MM450 Wood & Drywall Blade
– MM14 Hook & Loop Pad
– MM70W Wood Sanding Paper (3)
– MM70P Paint Sanding Paper (3)

II. THE OSCILLATING TOOL

Perhaps the most positive aspect of Velocity Dremel VC60-01 is that it’s 7.0 amps. A lot that you find are in the 3’s, but you get quite a bit of power with this dremel.

It’s also Velocity’s top blade as it uses a patented crank, the others use a standard traditional fork.

The oscillating angle is 5 degrees, has an integrated control food, electronic feedback control and an on and off switch.

Lift up a lever, the attachment comes out so you can attach a blade or a hook and loop pad. Close the lever and it’s locked in place.

Press a blue button and you can unfold the integrated control food to help with accuracy and control of the cuts. And then there is a sliding switch to turn the device on and off.

III. TESTS

VC490 Panel Blade: The first test I did was with the VC490 panel blade which is used to make straight cuts in plywood, wood, laminates and drywall. This came useful as I didn’t want to invest in jamb saw when installing laminate flooring in my closet area. But tested it on ply wood and was able to make accurate cuts. But for undercutting, I do recommend the MM480U Universal Wood Flush Cut Blade or the MM482U Universal Wood & Metal Flush Cut Blade. You can find these blades in set (the MM492 3-Piece Cutting Assortment Pack) for a great price and seriously, just this alone is awesome and you don’t need to spend a lot of money on a jamb saw (unless your profession is installing laminate flooring), the Dremel VC60-01 Velocity and getting the right blades that I mentioned is really is worth it!

VC494 Pipe & 2×4 Blade: I did not test on a copper pipe, but did test out on a standard PVC pipe and the blade worked perfectly. And the Velocity VC60-01 did work in one pass, so another positive experience. Best to use on high and medium speed.

MM450 Wood & Drywall Blade: I tested this one on plywood and also on drywall and the cuts were also very good. Dremel does recommend that this blade is best used on softer woods such as pine. And best to use on medium to high speed.

– MM14 Hook & Loop Pad: This is for sanding and comes with three MM70W Wood Sanding Paper and three MM70P Paint Sanding Paper. This works well, as I used it to remove dry paint on a tile surface. And it worked. For those who want to use in thin or tight areas, then you will definitely want to purchase the MM730 Contour Sander Accessory that comes with five shapes.

JUDGMENT CALL:

The Dremel VC60-01 is just a versatile tool that will save you money in the long run. You get three blades and a sander but there are more accessories that can be purchased for even more versatility and will give you better options, may it be for undercutting, cutting wood, drywall, pipes and sanding, especially hard to reach areas or challenging contours.

The fact that you get 7.0 amps and can adjust the speed from 10,000 -16,000/min (OPM) is fantastic, the fact it comes with a control foot that helps with accurate cutting and really, with all that comes with this kit, you are getting more than your money’s worth and it’s a tool that is so versatile that you can use it for multiple uses for many years to come.

For it’s price, its contents and versatility as a multi-use tool, the Dremel VC60-01 Velocity is highly recommended!
