The One about Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku (Tokyo)

For the longest time, I have been told by friends to check out the Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho area.

Robot Restaurant is an entertainment show facility operated by Robot Restaurant, Co., Ltd. and opened on July 18, 2012.

The facility would have 192 seats and cost about 10 billion yen to construct.

The goal of the company was to enliven office workers with three to five performances a day (dependent on the day) and operating time for each show is about 1.5 hours.

And for the first year, the restaurant averaged around 24,100 visitors and then in 2013, the numbers jumped to 69,500 visiting and last year, the restaurant surpassed 110,000 visitors.

When the restaurant first opened, there were only 40 seats with each seat costing Y3,000 yen.  Fast forward to 2015 and 156 seats were added and the price to attend is now Y7,000.

And with various celebrities worldwide visiting, the restaurant has become a hot destination for those traveling to Tokyo.

Seeing videos and reading articles, I went ahead and reserved my seats in advance. With several shows in the afternoon, I chose the early evening that myself and a few of our staff members can watch the event.

We were guided into a few stairs where we entered a room that was all-out swanky, glittery and two guys dressed as robots jamming on their acoustic guitar.

Meanwhile, on huge screen TV’s, you see scantily clad women in various scenes and more or less, giving you a taste of the sexy and talented performers at the restaurant.

While Robot Restaurant does have food, snacks and drinks, the Robot Restaurant is more about the show, and the overall atmosphere.

The show begins with taiko drumming girls which leads to women singing, another segment features a person selected in the audience to pilot a huge robot and fight another huge robot. Another scene is a mix of various sentai and tokusatsu shows and the performers acting as a character. And more huge robots galore!

And a big part of the show includes a lot of singing and dancing which was upbeat and enjoyable to watch.

But I’m only telling you a little of what Robot Restaurant is all about. Robot Restaurant is definitely a exciting and enjoyable experience!

And it’s definitely worth going, if you are willing to pay for the $75-$80 per person fee.

Just remember to reserve your seats in advance via the website!
