I don’t typically wear fashion watches but when they catch my eye, it’s something I can’t resist having and wearing.
For this latest review, I am reviewing DIESEL’s DZ1818 Armbar White Silicone Watch. DIESEL is an Italian fashion denim brand that was established back in 1978 and the company is developing a watch collection.
The watch features a silicone case and 24mm strap, with a case diameter of 45mm and the glass featuring mineral glass.. The watch uses a Japanese quartz movement and is water resistant to 300 ft.
I. OUT OF THE BOX
The watch is striking thanks to its “captivating iridescent crystal lens” but you will also notice that it may have black fibers. As a watch collector and one with several dozen Casio G-SHOCKS and also fitness watches, especially with white cases and white straps, you are going to have to clean it. I recommend the following… 303 UV Protectant Wipes for Vinyl, Plastic, Rubber, Fiberglass, Leather & More – Dust and Dirt Repellant – Non-Toxic, Matte Finish, 40 Towelettes. But if you like this watch, don’t get distressed with seeing black fibers from the pillow in the case or the case itself. In fact, the photos I am going to include will have the fibers on there but you can clean them with wipes.
II. FIRST THOUGHTS
My first thoughts are wow…I really dig the blue on black (has that “TRON” vibe) and how it looks with the black dial. Looking at the DZ1818, there are different colors of the watch available.
Metal case is easy to remove when replacing batteries. Back features an Indian looking sideways with the “DIESEL-ONLY THE BRAVE”.
But for me, despite the limited function of this watch, I really dig the overall look of this watch.
As a person who believes in having watches of different colors, if you incorporate white into your fashion, this watch works great. For me, I like the watch to compliment my clothing style. I get a variety of colors to match the belt and to match the shoes. This watch goes great with dark or light clothing and having my white Adidas Stan Smith, my Converse Chucks shoes or when I wear my white denim jeans.
III. FUNCTIONALITY
It’s a straight up watch. Pull the crown, adjust the time and you’re good to go.
IV. BUT IS THE WATCH BULKY?
Here is a photo as a comparison between another white watch I have, the CASIO G-SHOCK GA-100A (which I call my “Gundam G-SHOCK”). I like my watches with a big case and the DIESEL DZ1818 is not as chunky to my G, so it’s a good size.
V. CAN YOU TELL THE TIME WITH THIS WATCH AT NIGHT?
Barely. This is a great daytime watch but if you are wanting a watch that works great for day and night or really in the dark, of the many dozens of watches I own, the best watches I have that work best at night are my G-Shocks.
VI. BUT WHAT ARE THE NEGATIVE POINTS ABOUT THIS WATCH?
It’s a standard watch. It’s pricey. Compared to my white G-Shock GA100A-7A X-Large Men’s White Resin Sport Watch, the G offers more for almost half the price as the DIESEL DZ1818.
The G-SHOCK GA100A uses a shinier case and strap that doesn’t get as dirty as this watch does.
So, you are pretty much paying for the naThe DIESEL DZ1818 is a fashion watch that is quite stylish. It looks so good and for those looking for a white watch, will no doubt dig the look of this watch.
But it’s important to note that this is an expensive watch for its limited capabilities and because it is white, just make sure you have the wipes to clean and protect the rubber to prevent it from snapping. So, it does take some maintenance as most light color watches do.
But I know there are people who are dedicated to the DIESEL brand and if you are looking for a DIESEL watch, then the DIESEL DZ1818 is for you!
