The One about Awesome Customer Service in Japan Pt. 1 – Doutor

The number of positive things I can write about Japan, the wonderful people I came in contact with to the customer service I have received where employees really made your day feel wonderful, there are just so many instances that it’s hard to keep count.

But one such instance that happened not long ago is when I went to a Doutor restaurant in Katsushika, Tokyo, Japan.

That day, I had walked nearly 12 miles with heavy camera equipment.  I was exhausted, tired and hungry.

I ordered a Milano sandwich and orange juice.

While I walked upstairs with my food and drink, I just didn’t calculate of how weak I was and one of my sandwiches took a fall on the staircase.

I apologize for the employee for the mess and I sat down with whatever was left of half a sandwich and the remaining bread.  Needless to say, I felt like crap but it was my fault and I owned up to it.  And ate whatever was left on my plate, which wasn’t much.

As I sat there and scarfed down the little piece of sandwich that was on my plate, five minutes later an employee came up with the same sandwich I ordered.

Needless to say, I was very appreciative and how fortunate and happy I was to receive such wonderful customer service.

They didn’t have to bring me a new sandwich, but they did.  And it showed to me once again of how awesome Japan really is!
