In 1965, Smith Optics, Inc. was founded in Sun Valley, Idaho.

The company would be known for creating the first-ever goggle with a sealed thermal lens and breathable vent foam.

Back in the day, Dr. Bob Smith, a dentist by trade, would create goggles using dental tools, foam and glue.  And would strike a deal to manufacture Smith goggles and eventually would lead to Smith Optics becoming the popular brand that is today.

While some know Smith Optics for their goggles for skiing or snowboarding, the company is simply known for their eyewear and sponsorship of athletes in biking , skiing, snowboarding, surfing, motorcross and climbing.

Wanting quality cycling sunglasses for performance, I decided to purchase Smith Optics, Parallel D Max.

The sunglasses features hydrophilic megol and the convenience of exchanging lens.

I purchased red Parallel D Max’s, which come with the tinted lens but also comes with a clear and ruby red lens which are easy to attach.

Also, like the protective case that the Parallel D Max’s come with and it also comes with a limited lifetime warranty and sticker.

The fit for the sunglasses are very good, not so tight, doesn’t pinch my temples.  And for the most part, they are durable and have worked wonderfully when I go out running or cycling.

If you are looking for sunglasses that perform well for a run or a ride, definitely give Smith Optics’ Parallel D Max a try!
