Today, I am reviewing the Verhux Automatic Skeleton Watch (CX-G8842-BR).
The following watch was released on October 30th and while the brand name is Verhux, right on the dial is Chenxi. So, I know that Chenxi is a brand and possibly, Verhux is the seller store. Not so sure.
But I do know that Chenxi is known for its low cost watches around the $30 range. But this watch is one of their most expensive at the $72 range. And why is that? Well, it’s not just because it’s a skeleton watch but it’s an automatic mechanical watch. A lot of Chinese watches tend to be Quartz and are much cheaper, this not a Quartz watch and I will say that in my skeletal watch collection, I really like how the gears look for this watch.
So, what does this watch offer and what are my initial thoughts.
First, it comes with a tool, so you can adjust to your wrist size. The stainless steel band is really easy to adjust, but I do recommend having a watch tool set because while it does come with a tool, it helps to have that small hammer to strike the tool for the pin to come out and to adjust really quickly.
Verhux also recommends winding the watch upon first use for 30-40 times. But I do recommend making quite a bit of movement in order to see the Japanese watch movement go into action. But so far it’s working well. But it’s important to make sure the watch receives movement, because if you are typing for many hours without any major movement, you may notice the time lagging.
The watch is 30M (100 feet) water resistant but my feeling as a watch collector and owner is one should never wear a wristwatch underwater or showering. Especially for a cheaper watch which probably may end up in fogging.
Aesthetics alone, it’s a pretty cool skeleton watch! You can see the internals such as the hand nock, bias autogyro, metal stone axle rope and metal splint.
And it’s a watch offered in various colors and you can go with stainless steel or black band.
Overall, the Verhux (Chenxi) Automatic Skeleton Watch (CX-G8842-BR) is one of the company’s more expensive watches, doubling the price because it’s automatic and its a skeleton watch. But with that being said, there are other companies selling their skeleton watch for much cheaper. So, definitely do your due diligence but so far, the watch is working well and I do give it a thumbs up!
