The One about the BAOFENG Walkie Talkie Speaker Microphone

Today I am reviewing the BAOFENG Walkie Talkie Speaker Microphone.

For $19, people may wonder why is the BAOFENG Walkie Talkie Speaker Microphone cost almost as much as a Baofeng HT or more.

What you have here is a speaker/microphone unit for a BAOFENG transceiver that utilizes its K-plug connector that many BAOFENG and other Ham Radio and GMRS radios have. So, the port is not just for a programming cable, you can connect this BAOFENG Walkie Talkie Speaker Microphone.

The speaker/microphone is waterproof, windproof, dustproof and splashproof which is great to know. On the reverse, featured are spring clips for easy rotation.

Meanwhile, the orange button on the top and the orange button on the side is a PTT button.

One review said he was not able to transmit on the A Channel, but I was able to transmit on A or B channel without any problems. In fact, I tested with BAOFENG, QUANSHENG, TIDRADIO and RETEVIS and had no problems utilizing other HT but also no problem with A or B channels.

There are no instructions, but it’s easy to figure out. Again, a lot of BAOFENG HT’s do use this K-Plug Connector (aside from the UV-9R’s which use seven pin).

Last but not least, I recommend anyone operating an HT to use a speaker microphone.  5W is a lot of power but a lot of radios are going 10W – 15W which is insane.  While whether or not this is accurate (and most of the time they aren’t), I still recommend never holding an HT near your head. For your safety, use a walkie talkie speaker microphone with good cord length, so you don’t have to have that radio next to your head.  Please note, I’m not a doctor but for me, it makes logical sense.

Overall, the BAOFENG Walkie Talkie Speaker Microphone works great and to have a durable walkie talkie speaker microphone is a plus but do know that BAOFENG and other competitors release even cheaper versions. So, do know that before purchasing.

Recommended but you can find cheaper!
