The One about the MageGee SKY98 Wireless Gasket Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

For today’s mechanical keyboard review, I am checking out the MageGee SKY98 Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.

MageGee is a company that makes gaming mechanical keyboards, mouse, headsets and other products and their popular products include their SKY98, CLOUD98 and MK-BOX keyboards.

And for this review, I am reviewing the SKY98 which is a mechanical keyboard that is tri-mode and wireless (comes with a USB-C cable in white, key cap puller, extra switches and keycaps) and features a 5-layer gasket (which includes IXPE foam pad, PORON foam, diaphragm, EVA soundproofing foam and silicone absorbing pad) for sound dampening. The mechanical keyboard also is hot swappable and is RGB backlit.

The RGB backlit features 6 sets of default gaming backlights (FN+1 through FN+6) and 18 built-in backlight modes. There is a switch on the side left to turn off the RGB backlighting. So far,

So, for the most part, the MageGee SKY98 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard would make for a great beginners mechanical keyboard or those who are looking for a keyboard that they can customize.

It comes built with a 3,000 mAh rechargeable battery that lasts for about 16 hours. And you can definitely use this keyboard on PC and Mac.

Now you can order this mechanical keyboard in lavender but the version I am reviewing is the “Waves/Blue Whale Switch” version.

The addition of these sailing keycaps to replace a few keys such as the space bar, arrow keys, enter keys and escape keys is a good addition (keycap puller included). The violet switches are pre-lubed and features 3-pin or 5-pin switches.

There are a few versions of the SKY98 but the Blue Whale switches feature a conduction stroke of 1.8 + 0.2mm, total travel of 3.8mm and operating force of 38g+2g.  The Blue Whale switches are clicky like a blue switch keyboard but for the most part, it helps to have that gasket mount to nullify some of that sound.

But for the most part, this is a solid mechanical keyboard that his hot swappable and gasket mounted. But its important to make sure that the version you are getting is wireless, as they also offer the SKY98 in wired format. This version I am reviewing is tri-mode. So, it has Bluetooth 5.0 and comes with a 2.8 ghz USB wireless receiver.

But I like the fact that people can utilize this keyboard and easily customize it or just use as is and it makes for a solid mechanical keyboard.

But at under $80, the MageGee SKY98 Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is an affordable gasket mounted mechanical keyboard that works very well and for those looking for a 96% keyboard that is a bit more clicky, may definitely want to give this keyboard a try.
