The One about the REDRAGON K708 FLEKACT PRO Tri-Mode Mechanical Keyboard

For today’s review, I am checking out the REDRAGON K708 FLEKACT PRO Tri-Mode Mechanical Keyboard.

I have been quite positive when it comes to Redragon mechanical keyboards and I have seen this company evolve from 2019 to present. Seeing how they went from straight-up budget keyboards but now going mid-price to high-price but release mechanical keyboards with similar feature to others but at a much cheaper price point.

So, what does the FLEKACTPro offer and what makes it different from other Redragon products?

For the most part, this mechanical keyboard offers functions that are now becoming standard to the mid to high price mechanical keyboards and that is it being tri-mode (Bluetooth, wired, 2.4G), having gasket-mounted to keep things quiet and it being hot swappable.

If anything, these three have become standard in 2024 that it’s not a surprise for mechanical keyboards to have these features as they did when they were released in 2022-2023.

One thing that I like is how this mechanical keyboard can be connected to up to five devices which is positive and switched via the FN+ combination keys.

In addition, if you don’t dig the switches or keycaps, you can change them out.

As for the gasket mounting, there are around six layers of protection between the switch/keycaps and the bottom case. The amount of PORON cotton, IXPE Shaft Underpad, EVA base pad is a plus!

The mechanical keyboard also features 18 + 4 RGB Backlit Modes controlled by a knob is cool.

But what makes this keyboard standout against its competitors and other REDRAGON Mechanical Keyboards?

There are two primary things.

One is that on the upper right, there is an LCD screen menu.  Default is Chinese, so you will need to click on the knob and you will see a language icon, in which you can switch to English.

From using the knob and looking at the LCD screen, you can change settings, such as LED effects and colors, brightness levels, switch for PC or MAC, you can change the screen to show the time or you can also change and add a .GIF to the screen (a picture of a cartoon mouse holding cheese, not sure how to change the .gif). And when the knob is not used for the LCD screen, it can be used for volume control.  [Although I am not sure how to change the time, as it is on Chinese time right now and seven minutes ahead. But I’ll eventually figure this part out].

UPDATE: The K708 FLECTACT PRO driver is listed on the Redragon.pl (polish site).  The instructions are in English.  But seriously, Redragon really needs to get their driver list updated on the English site.

Upon connecting the keyboard to the software, it will sync the time.  The software allows for macros and also adjusting the LED colors.  There is a way to upload .gif, but when I tried, the software crashed.  So, I am not sure what the .gif size limit or what size is max.

The other major feature is that this keyboard uses the new Leopard L Switch, which is a thicker pre-lubed linear switch that adds to smoother typing and faster feedback.  It’s important to note that the operating force of 45+/- 10gf, making this a quieter keyboard.  And probably among the quietest I have ever tested from REDRAGON.   The mechanical keyboard has a 50 million click lifespan.

Overall, this is a very good mechanical keyboard and the upgrade to the new Leopard L Switch was a very good choice.  And to add the LCD screen was also a nice touch, but with that being said, instructions nor the website show any possible way to change the time (or the .gif image if any).

I do recommend the REDRAGON K708 FLEKACT PRO Tri-Mode Mechanical Keyboard but I really do feel Redragon needs to get their drivers updated on the English website.  There is no reason why consumers have to go on the Polish website to grab the driver for this keyboard.
