While I tend to review more of the $125+ range dash cameras, I wanted to review dash cameras under the $50 range for those who are on a budget and that’s all they want to pay.
So, I am reviewing the 1080P Dash Camera Front and Inside Dashcams with IR Night Vision Loop Recording G-Sensor 24Hr Parking (1080P) which is being sold on Amazon by Wkreuoar.
The dash camera does not come with a micro SD card, so you will need to purchase one to use this dash camera. The other thing I also do recommend is getting a cigarette adapter that adds 2-4 for your cigarette lighter.
I tend to use a four cigarette port adapter as I run a rear window dash camera/rear camera, a second interior dash camera, laser/radar detector and LED lighting. If you never use your cigarette adapter, then this camera should be fine on the one you have. Otherwise, if you are using the cigarette adapter, I would then get a cigarette adapter which are inexpensive.
The other thing is that this is one of the types of camera that utilize a tape to affix to your window.
This can be problematic for those who live in areas where it can get extremely hot as the web camera’s two stick tape might melt and fall off due to the weight and the windshield being too hot. So, take this into consideration.
The other thing is I live in a city that you just don’t leave electronics like this, you need to remove it and put it back on. This is not a device that makes it easy to do that. Because the camera doesn’t easily slide out of its connector and to remove the holder with the 2-sided tape and lose the adhesiveness to put it on and off. So, take this also into consideration if you live or work in a not so safe area.
So, this web camera is interesting because not only does it capture the widescreen of the front of your windshield, but it will also focus a picture-in-picture display of the driver. By a click of a button underneath, you can switch it to be all front window camera without the picture in picture display or switch which camera will be primary or switch positions. You can watch the previously recorded video, you can take pictures, but again, you do want to make sure you have an SD card.
The IPS screen is 3.16 inches and the cabin camera can be rotated 180 degree4s.
The web camera also features a G-sensor, so if you get an accident, the recorder will automatically save and lock the current video as evidence.
Like most dash cameras, this has loop recording. It records in intervals and if your web camera is full, it will record and overwrite the oldest video.
The web camera also offers night vision.
Its important to note that the cigarette adapter cord utilizes the old style of USB connection (ie. USB mini A, not to be confused with USB Micro A). This connects to the device on the side and a cable from the cabin camera is connected to the main camera body.
The cable is long but for those who want to run it on top of the roof to the side of the passenger door and under the passenger mat to the cigarette lighter adapter, depending on your car configuration, for some vehicles, you may need a longer cable. What I tend to do for a lot of testing is get a longer cable USB Micro A and then plug into my cigarette adapter which not only has extra cigarette adapter ports but also USB ports, which may make it a lot easier to power the device. But it depends on you as the driver, as long as you don’t have a long cable dangling while you are driving.
But overall, the functions you do get for a web camera under $45, this actually does work and is more than enough for a lot of people. It’s just if you want 2K or 4K and the rear video camera, GPS coordinates which tracks speed and location, this is when the pricing goes up. But for a front windshield dash camera and a cabin camera to record the driver, that’s pretty cool.
For the most part, there are some valid concerns but I do want you to know that it does work as intended and at its price point, makes it a solid camera at under $45. Take the concerns I brought up in my review into consideration and decide if the 1080P Dash Camera Front and Inside Dashcams with IR Night Vision Loop Recording G-Sensor 24Hr Parking (1080P) is for you.
