The One about the JJDSNL 64GB Mini Digital Voice Recorder with Playback Audio Magnetic 768Hours Recorder Voice Activated Recorder

As today’s mini digital voice recorders now have multi-function (to record audio and to be used as a music player), what it all comes down to is ease of use.

The simple, the better. You can have one that records audio very well but if the functions are not easy to use, then it makes it more difficult for the end user.

Today’s review will be about the JJDSNL 64GB Mini Digital Voice Recorder with Playback Audio Magnetic 768Hours Recorder Voice Activated Recorder. Like other digital voice recorders, it comes with wired earbuds and a USB-C cable. But unfortunately, no wrist strap.

Similar to other digital voice recorders, it has a switch to record and buttons for volume up and down and a manual button to set for voice activation.

There is a blue LED light when charging. And a Red LED light when its recording.

Recording is easy. Files are saved as .WAV files in the RECORD folder. You can listen to it via playback via earbuds but it’s important to note, the device does NOT have a speaker for playback, wired ear buds must be plugged in. The manual will switch if you want to listen to music or recordings. Press + and – volume buttons at the same time to pause and again to unpause.

Similar to other inexpensive digital voice recorders, this one comes with a .txt document file that you must set the numerics. This document is important for:

VOR: Sensitivity for voice-activation. The higher the number it means it records less sound. Currently set at default – 0 (off).
BIT: Bit rate setting (default is 5 – 256K), the highest is 8 which is 1024k, the lowest is 0 which is 192k. If you put 1-4 it’s MP3, 5-9 is WAV
GAIN: Recording sensitivity (default is 5). The larger the number, the louder the recording will be (can go from 1-7).
PART: (Default is 60) this is how long you want audio recording to be. 60 minutes is default but it can go lower to 10 minutes to higher to 240 minutes.
DENOISE: (default is 4) This is noise reduction. The larger the number the less noise (goes 1-7).

So, with this being a 64GB device, depending on what bitrate you set, you can get up to days of audio recording. The device fully charges in 2 hours.

Now, what is my feeling of usefulness?

If you are a college student or getting trained on something and need digital recordings, the device is fantastic! It records audio clearly and it does what you expect. If you are using it as a music player, not so much. You are going to thumb around so many files and there is no display. Granted, if you have a set playlist and you are going to go jogging with it, then it’s useful. BUT the problem is that there is no wrist strap or lanyard, so it makes it much more easy to lose.

So, there are multiple things to consider. Having one to change settings on a txt file is not easy but if you are technical minded to open the text file and enter the default setting, you should be fine. A lot of inexpensive digital players are like this.

But I wish it did have it’s own speakers to hear playback without the use of earbuds.

But as more companies become competitive in the digital voice recorder industry, just keep in mind of what your primary goals are. In this day and age, you don’t have to spend that much. You shouldn’t have to.

So, I do recommend the device, but do know there are devices that do things much better than this. But it does work well, but for some people, it may be too difficult to use.
