For today’s mechanical keyboard review, I am taking a look at the DAREU EK98PRO Tri-Mode Mechanical Keyboard.
This is the first time for me trying out a DAREU product. But I do know that DAREU is another mechanical keyboard company in China, which has fierce competition with other companies grabbing international attention for affordable mechanical keyboards.
The brand is 16-year-old brand and a company that puts a premium on technology, quality and fashion for computer peripherals for e-sports or office work. So, there A to Z line of products are popular. But I am checking out their EK75 Pro Tri-Mode (Bluetooth 5.1, 2.4 ghz and USB-C wired) gasket-mounted 97-key keyboard.
These days, it’s become popular to use gasket mounted keyboards which contains six layers of high-density foam to reduce keystroke noise.
The keyboard features linear red switches (utilizing DAREAU HiFi Dream Linear switch) and features a customizable South-Facing RGB backlight with 26 backlit modes, 5 lighting modes on side lights trips and more.
The keyboard is rechargeable thanks to its 4000mAh large capacity battery.
One of the attractive things about this keyboard is that you can connect up to five devices to this one keyboard which is a plus.
Another positive about this keyboard, I like the top right corner knob for volume adjustment. I also like how the page up, del, and page down keys are situated vertically on the right and it does have arrow keys. There is also LED indicators for caps lock.
And there are also extra keycaps in yellow if you want to change things up and yes, it does come with a keycap puller plus a USB-C cable if you prefer to be wired.
For the most part, using this keyboard for gaming and also office work, which I am using to type this review at this moment, it just feels natural and smooth and I don’t feel the stiffness of some other red key switches which is great. I just like the smooth flow of each keystroke and for the most part, the responsiveness for this keyboard during gaming has been quite positive. No problems at all.
If anything, DAREU is in a positive position for its mechanical keyboards. The quality of the EK97PRO is very good but with top tier companies China producing top tier quality mechanical keyboards, it’s a highly competitive industry.
Do I have a preference between the EK75PRO or EK98PRO? Well, it’s all subjective. For those wanting a smaller keyboard will go for the EK75PRO, for those wanting that numlock and numeric 10-key, then the EK98PRO is for you. But you can’t go wrong with either.
Overall, I do give the DAREU EK98PRO Tri-Mode Mechanical Keyboard a thumbs up!
