As more and more laptops and PC’s do not come with a DVD Drive and burner, for those looking for one, would need to look towards an external.
The good news is that external DVD RW drives are under $36 these days and come with much better options.
One such drive that I have been trying out is the SUIDEK External CD/DVD Drive USB 3.0 USB C Portable CD DVD +/-RW Burner.
For one, this drive alone comes with a USB 3.0 and USB-C connection (Granted a small cord, but fortunately they included a USB C cable or you can use your own, if you have one that is even longer) but also functions as a USB hub as it comes with three USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, 1 SD cart slot, 1 TF card slot and more.
Included also is a DVD to USB converter to play music CD’s, play movie DVD’s, install software and more.
For me, I still needed this external drive as I have a ton of music CD’s and when I want to rip them to MP3’s and listen to the songs on my phone, this external drive makes it easier for me to listen to my favorite music without using the CD’s, nor worry of the CD’s getting scratched up.
Also, I have a lot of PC video games on disc and this drive allows me to play them as well. So, another plus!
Granted, not everyone uses physical media as so much as has gone digital, but for those who still need access to their old DVD’s or CD’s, then definitely give this drive a try! With the additional use as a hub, it makes it a whole lot better than your basic external DVD drive.
The added support of USB-C and USB 3.0 did make things faster.
But for the most part, they have improved the basic external drive by speed and functionality and maintaining a cheaper price.
Overall, the SUIDEK External CD/DVD Drive USB 3.0 USB C Portable CD DVD +/-RW Burner is recommended!
