I have been trying out various power controllers as the joycon drift has been affecting gameplay on my Nintendo Switch and wanted a power controller that would last and for the most part, not be a hindrance.
The latest wireless controller from a third party that I am reviewing is the ISHAKO Wireless Gaming Controller.
This controller is one that can be used for PC, MAC, Android, iOS, tablet and Nintendo Switch.
So, the first thing you notice is how this controller looks similar to an XBOX controller. But with the buttons in a V formation in the center.
Also, what makes this wireless controller different from others is the removable joy sticks and left gold keypad which comes off and can be replaced with one with thicker directional buttons if needed.
The controller does have vibration feedback and 6 axis gyro control. Feedback like other controllers have four levels (none, weak, medium, strong) and the gyro controller is a plus.
It can also be programmed and has rear buttons that can be assigned.
So, this controller will work via Bluetooth or wired via the supplied USB-C cable. Connecting to the Switch, it took a while to figure out. On the back, there is a switch with a XDSV. I set it on S for which I believe is Switch and then usually most third party controllers have a single tiny button underneath to sync with the Switch, but holding the top shoulder buttons and T/fn allowed for connection.
The controller takes about 2-3 hours to charge and provides 7-8 hours playing time thanks to its 600 mAh rechargeable battery.
The controller also offers LED backlighting in which the brightness can be adjusted from 0%, 33%, 66% and 100%.
For the most part, the controller has worked well but because it uses the removable stick and D-pad, which is cool. It also feels different from a typical third party controller with a directional pad. Whether it’s a good thing or bad thing is subjective, but just make sure no dust gets in there if you do replace the d-pad a lot.
Overall, for under $35, the ISHAKO Wireless Gaming Controller is a very good controller and comfortable and similar to an XBOX controller. But it should definitely work well for your gaming on your Nintendo Switch, PC/MAC or iOS and Android devices.
