I recently saw the “USB C to HDMI Cable 4K HD Switch TV Adapter” and immediately I thought to myself, would I be able to stream digitally via OBS using this instead of a dock?
I had to find out for myself!
So, this is a 6.5 ft cable that allows you to plug your Nintendo Switch to HDMI (via the back of a TV or monitor). For my needs, I plugged it into my computer, OBS was able to detect it.
Right on the HDMI portion, is another port to plug in a USB-C cable, so you can charge your Nintendo Switch at the same time.
So, was I able to stream from this? Yes, I was!
But was I able to stream while I had the joycons connected? No, I wasn’t. I had to disconnect the joycons or use a power controller. But that’s how the Nintendo Switch works, it’s not the fault of the cable.
The cable worked perfectly fine for what it’s supposed to be used for.
I do like it a lot as an alternative to the standard Nintendo Switch dock, but I also like how it can be used on the go since it’s easy to store in a bag. I also liked how it maintained the red/blue Nintendo Switch color as well!
But overall, I was able to get my Nintendo Switch to display and also to use via OBS with no problems at all. Just remember for audio to set audio monitoring to monitor and output and you’ll be fine.
Overall, the USB C to HDMI Cable 4K HD Switch TV Adapter worked like a charm! 5 Stars!
