Q&A with Koyama Mami (2014)

In Japan, there are voice talent who are well-revered for their work. And there are a few who still are working in the anime industry today.

Voice actress Mami Koyama is one of those legendary voice talent that continues to work in the industry.

Best known for her voice as Arale Norimaki in Akira Toriyama’s popular series “Dr. Slump” and Minky Momo in “Mahou no Princess Minky Momo”, she also did the voice for Lunch in “Dragon Ball”, Ryoko Mendou in “Urusei Yatsura”, Kei in “Akira”, Fujiko Mine in “Lupin III” and Kyculia Zabi in “Mobile Suit Gun- dam”, to name a few.

In fact, Mami Koyama has a long list of credits that dates back to 1975.

Mami first started working as a voice actress for the young Yayoi Kikyoya in “Ikkyu-san” in 1975 and reprising her role as Ophiuchus Shaina in “Saint Seiya Omega” in 2012.

She is also well-known for her video game voice-acting work such as Tina Armstrong in “Dead or Alive”, “Misumi” in “Summon Night 3”, Clementia Foerster of “Valkyrie Chron- icles II and III” and most recently as Maltran for “Tales of Zestiria”.

For Hollywood films in Japan, she is best known for her Japanese dub voice work for actress Kim Basinger, Sharon Stone and Michelle Pfeiffer and also television shows as the Japanese voice for Elaine Benes of “Seinfeld”, Mary Alice Young of “Desperate Housewives” and many more.
