For day 53, I am watching “Christmas by Chance” and it’s a recurring theme that I see each year but also something that is true.

With specialty shops that deal with rare books, vintage art, etc. It’s tough for small shops to gain a foothold in today’s society, especially if you are going up against big companies but sometimes finding the right client pays off big time.  And this is the case for this Lifetime holiday telefilm.

The film is directed by Andrew Cymek (“Night Cries”, “Country Crush”, “The Baby Stealer”) and written by actress/writer Brigitte Kingsley.

The holiday telefilm stars Winny Clarke (“Nobody Famous”, “Almost Adults”), Jacob Blair (“Underworld: Awakening”, “The Pinkertons”, “The A-Team”), Celine Tsai (“Ready or Not”, “Impulse”), Sharjil Rasool (“New Eden”, “Odd Squad”) and Celeste Desjardins (“Taken”, “Haven”).

The holiday telefim revolves around Chance (portrayed by Winny Clarke), an owner of a gift shop “By Chance Gifts”, which she inherited by her art, book and vintage furniture collecting father who passed away.  She used her college tuition money which was saved for her to start “By Chance Gifts” but now the shop is struggling.

Fortunately, she has Becky (portrayed by Celine Tsai), her barista who is also an English graduate and experienced in social media.  Becky wants to help Chance and thus starts a social media campaign which catches the eye of Ryan (portrayed by Sharjil Rasool), the assistant for the wealthy bachelor, William (portrayed by Jacob Blair).

William is wanting to propose in the most special holiday way for his socialite girlfriend Leyla (portrayed by Celeste Desjardins) and hired to help him is Chance.

But while she prepares this special holiday proposal for William, William starts to realize that he has more in common with Chance than with Leyla.

For the most part, I really loved the holiday elegance of this film.  It was kept simple, not too many characters, just focusing on the primary people and making holiday magic happen.

And I also love holiday films in which production design and set decoration are on point and Manuela Casinha brought that to this holiday telefilm.

For the most part, I enjoyed seeing the chemistry between Winny Clarke and Jacob Blair work very well together for this holiday film and hooray for casting director’s for bringing diversity into this film as well.

An entertaining holiday telefilm for those wanting a romantic comedy.  “Christmas by Chance” is a holiday telefilm worth checking out!
