Miranda (Alicia Dea Josipovic) and Paul (Travis Nelson) are business rivals who accidentally meet at a costumed Santa crawl and spend a romantic evening together. Their businesses merge, forcing them into an unwanted partnership.
It’s Christmas Eve and we have now reached day 49 and for today’s holiday telefilm will be the Lifetime holiday film “Secretly Santa”.
Directed by Sharon Lewis (:Brown Girl Begins”, “With Wonder”, “Disruptor Conductor”) and written by John Dion (“The Eleventh”, “Made For You, With Love”, “Saying Yes to Christmas”).
The film stars Alicia Dea Josipovic (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”, Key to Love”, “The Love Issue”), Travis Nelson (“Tucker and Dale vs. Evil”, “Haunting Melissa”, “Dark Hearts”), Getenesh Berhe (“Cinema of Sleep”, “Keep Breathing”, “SurrealEstate”), Andrew Bushnell (“Designated Survivor”, “The Wedding Planners”, “Jump, Darling”), Laura Cilevitz (“My Spy”, “Molly’s Game”), Mary Lu Zahalan, David Keeley and more.
The film revolves around two rival app businesses and their creators. Miranda’s (portrayed by Alicia Dea Josipovic) app benefits the underprivileged and gives back to the community, while Paul (portrayed by Travis Nelson) is an app maker driven by profit.
Miranda doesn’t like Paul for what his app’s goals are. But at a Christmas party, where everyone is dressed up as Santa. The two don’t know who each other are and get close and are attracted to each other.
Meanwhile, back to reality, both app makers find out that their apps have been sold to a company and now the company wants to use the technology and makers to work together and increase its popularity (and profit).
But can these two rivals work together?
Needless to say, the film does feature the “two people don’t get along but must work together and as they do they grow closer” storyline. Granted, I think this is the first film that doesn’t involve rival chefs or rival shopmakers, but rival app makers. How modern! But one thing that I did like is Alicia Dea Josopovic’s performance. She brings a sassy style to her character role and I really like that!
But for the most part, the film does have the holiday spirit and is quite Christmassy, so I think many people will enjoy it.
“Secretly Santa” is a holiday film that may not bring anything new storywise, but it’s definitely entertaining and fun!
