Starring Amanda Payton. Sawyer makes a fake wedding registry. But when the whole town throws her a surprise bridal shower, she must find a fake fiance.
From director Ryan Little (“Forever Strong”, “Extinct”, “Saints and Soldiers”) comes “A Fiance for Christmas”, a story written by Angeline Olschewski (“Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn”, “Raven’s Home”, “Victorious”).
The film stars Amanda Payton (“United States of AI”, “Code 404”), Adam Gregory (“90210”, “The Bold and the Beautiful”), Marie Osmond (“Donny and Marie”), Sarah Jayne Jensen (“Across the Universe”, “Hairspray”), Scout Smith and James Jamison.
The film revolves around a young woman named Sawyer (portrayed by Amanda Payton) who is a doctor at a practice. But her boss Bill (portrayed by James Jamison) tells her that he is going to retire and will need someone to take over the practice.
Sawyer feels she is a front runner but is told by Bill, because she is a workaholic and doesn’t have a a good balance of work and personal life, the job would burn her out.
Wanting to prove to her boss that she can take over the practice and has a personal life, her secretary Jules (portrayed by Sarah Jayne Jensen) comes up with an idea that she could pretend she’s married and create a fake wedding registry.
Meanwhile, her patient Hilary (portrayed by Scout Smith), tells her that her brother, a veterinarian named Landon (portrayed by Adam Gregory), will be coming to town, and she would like to hook both Sawyer and Landon up for a date.
And while the date will go forward, what is not expected is that Landon would be a willing actor and pretend that he is Sawyer’s fiance.
But will this scheme fool her mother Margaret (portrayed by Marie Osmond) and her boss? And what happens when the time these two fake couple are together, that they may develop feelings for one another?
“A Fiance for Christmas” is actually a very entertaining film about a white lie being carried to far. What happens when the little lie, starts to grow to big?
I enjoyed Amanda Payton’s acting as Sawyer and I noticed in 2021 that Lifetime really is really showcasing interracial couples, as we have Sawyer who is African American and Ladon as a Caucasian for this film, but now that I think about it, a few recent reviews this year which I did featured an interracial couple.
For the most part, I like the diversity and showcasing people of different ethnicity in a relationship together. And it’s not in your face or anything like that.
But I did enjoy the overall storyline and found “A Fiance for Christmas” to be a fun holiday telefilm!
